About Sanur Village Festival 2017
The SVF 2017 will present an awakening festival by drawing its theme from Indonesia’s official national motto of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika or Unity in Diversity. The celebration kicked off with Sanur Jazz Festival, which took place in July 2017, Sanur International Kite Festival on August 3, 2017, which subsequently presents a kite exhibition at Sudakara Artspace, at Sudamala Sanur which will run from August 7 to September 6 2017 then continues with Art and Photography at Griya Santrian. In addition, Sanur Village Festival will also host several series of activities: Warung Sanur which will take place on August 9 at Maisonettee Area, Segara Beach, Sanur. Warung Sanur offers traditional Balinese food, in stalls as well as restaurants in the Sanur area. Ares Restaurant at Sudamala Suites & Villas, Sanur continues to open for visitors to Sanur to enjoy. Additionally, on August 9, 2017 there will also be other events to celebrate Sanur, such as a Traditional Parade and Jukung (Traditional Boat Race), Water Sports, Food Bazaar and Music and Art Performances. Last but not least, acknowledging our foot prints in everything that we do, the Sanur Village Festival is also hosting various CSR activities such as Environmental Action and Bali International Triathlon.
The chairman of SVF, Ida Bagus Gede Sidharta Putra, mentions that various issues highlighting the country’s differences has moved community elements to acknowledge and appreciate the diversity in Indonesia’s united soul. In this uniting spirit, SVF as a festival that evokes “the new spirit of heritage”, realises that Unity in Diversity is a grounding feature in Indonesia’s DNA. Re-strengthening the values of Bhineka Tunggal Ika is a nation’s awakening process. The extensive hatred and violence in both the cyber and real world has kindled awareness, as these are threats to the nation’s unity.
“During its journey, SVF 2017 features cultural diversity in its programs with Art and Culture Ambassadors from across the Indonesian archipelago, showing that the Sanur community is very open to all Indonesian citizens. This is also supported by the international community who visits each year. SVF considered The Unity in Diversity value as relevant, so it has been chosen as the theme for the festival, as part of the embodiment of love for the nation”, he says.
